Prank screens
Fake update and crash screens that look real. Open one on a friend's computer, press F for full screen, and walk away.
Blue Update Screen
The classic blue "Working on updates" screen with spinning dots and a slow percentage.
Dark Update Screen
The newer black update screen. "This will take a while." It really will.
Progress Bar Update
A minimal installer with a progress bar and a time estimate that never quite runs out.
Crash Screen
"Your device ran into a problem." A blue error screen with a sad face and a stop code.
How to pull off the prank
- Open a prank screen on their computer and press F (or the Full screen button in the corner).
- Leave the mouse alone. After a couple of seconds the button and the cursor disappear.
- The percentage keeps creeping up on its own, and sometimes gets stuck, just like a real update. Secret controls: ↑ and ↓ nudge the percentage up or down.
- To end it, press Esc. Nothing was actually installed or changed.
These are just web pages: they can't update, harm or control a computer. Please only prank people who'll laugh about it.
